Attention requested: Improved Check Adjustments Services Functionality available on October 20, 2019

October 7, 2019

As the Federal Reserve Banks continue to seek ways to improve our services, we are excited to announce that we will introduce new and improved functionality to Check Adjustments Services on October 20, 2019.

Attention requested:

Starting at 5 p.m. ET on Friday, October 18, Check Adjustments Services will be unavailable as we conduct the upgrade for the new and improved functionality. Check Adjustments Services will resume normal business processing on Sunday, October 20, at 2 p.m. ET. If you have uploaded a text file that generated coversheets, print or save the system generated coversheets prior to 5 p.m. ET on October 18 or they will be lost.

What's new?

As previously communicated this year, in addition to providing an updated user interface, the following updates will be available to improve customers’ experiences:

  • The ability to create an adjustment case on FedLine Web® and FedLine Advantage® and attach supporting documentation at the time of case creation, thus eliminating the need to fax the supporting documentation.
  • The ability to upload and download a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) formatted file directly to or from FedLine® with both adjustment messages and supporting attachments. The text (TXT) formatted files will continue to be accepted.
  • The ability to create a Check Adjustment (CA) message using dynamic screens that show only the required and optional fields for the investigation type (ITYP) of the message being created.
  • Advanced search capability for reviewing and processing adjustment cases.

These changes were made to help simplify and streamline the process for submitting adjustments requests. All current functionality will continue to be available; however, screens will have a new look and additional functionality. A complete summary of changes document is available to all Check Adjustment Subscribers via an email sent on October 7, 2019.

Training:

A self-directed training document is now available that will provide you with details about the changes to the Check Adjustments Service and how to use the new functionality. To access this document, log into FedLine Home, and then from the Training page, navigate to the Check Adjustments section of the Check tab.

View and Practice:

The FedLine test environment is available for your institution to view and practice the changes to the Check Adjustments Service. Prior to October 18, 2019, customers should reference the August 21st FedLine alert for the link to the CT environment. After October 20, 2019, instructions on how to access the test environment will be made available in FedLine Home, from the Training page, navigate to the Check section of the Resources tab. You will find the instructions under Check Adjustments 2019 Upgrades. Any subscriber who has access to the Check Adjustments production environment will have access to the test environment. Customers can view all aspects of the system including testing the upload or download of TXT or JSON files.

Recommended actions:

Please review the details below for your institution's recommended actions for October 20, 2019.

Ensure Enterprise Mode is Disabled

The only supported browser for the FedLine Advantage and FedLine Web Solutions is Internet Explorer® 11. It is important that you ensure that Enterprise Mode in Internet Explorer 11 is not enabled. To see if Enterprise Mode is enabled on your PC, open Internet Explorer and click “Tools” in the navigation bar. If there is a checkmark next to “Enterprise Mode,” you will need to uncheck it. If you are unable to do so, you may need to contact your institution’s technical support staff.

To ensure your institution adheres to the hardware and software requirements for each solution, please refer to the FedLine Solutions Setup page on FRBservices.orgSM.

Clear Your Cache

Once the enhancements are in place, Internet Explorer (IE) browsers may pull up cached versions of the FedLine screens. This can result in non-responsive features. Clearing the browser cache should resolve any issues. If it does not, the version of IE may need to be updated to IE 11. To clear the IE browser cache:

  • Click on “Tools,” then “Internet Options” and on the “General” tab click “Delete” under Browsing history or from “Tools” you can select “Delete Browsing History”
  • Alternatively, users can select the “Settings” option under Browsing history and check the option to check for newer versions of stored pages “Every time I visit the webpage”
  • Once complete, close and reopen the browser window

Questions

If you have any questions about the services, please contact your account executive or FedACH® and Check Services Customer Support.
