Payment Notification User Group Setup

Payment Notification User Group Retirement Notification

The Federal Reserve Banks intend to retire the Payment Notification User Group (PNUG) and remove Appendices E, E-1, and E-2 from Operating Circular 6 in the fourth quarter of 2019. In anticipation of the retirement of the PNUG, the Federal Reserve Banks have removed all PNUG content from FRBServices.org.

The PNUG was established in November 2011 to provide Fedwire® Funds Service participants with a market practice to enable a sender to request notification, by e-mail, that the beneficiary’s bank specified in a payment order has credited the account of or otherwise paid the beneficiary of a funds transfer.

In light of the PNUG’s retirement, the Federal Reserve Banks are no longer accepting submissions of new agreements to join the PNUG. Current PNUG members do not need to take any action in connection with the PNUG’s retirement.
