ITYP Description | Proper Usage

Not Our Item (NOI) - Used to request a credit entry for an item that was charged in a cash/return letter but the item does not bear the receiving institution’s routing number in the MICR line (for Forward Collection items) or endorsement area (for Return items) of the physical item or image or in the associated endorsement records for items received electronically.

If you discover a NOI, submit a NOI adjustment request to the Federal Reserve Bank.

NOTE: The NOI ITYP does not apply to “mismatched items” - items involving substitute checks (or images in an ANSI X9.100-187 (X9.37) image cash/return letter) where the routing number on the MICR line (or in the file) does not match the routing number on the imaged item. Refer to the NCH ITYP for this type of error.
